Christmas holiday!

Monday the princess started her Christmas holiday a bit earlier having to stay home from school with a temperature. Tuesday the daddy followed and Wednesday the little man.... I seemed to not be following them so I got the packing done and Thursday we piled everything and everyone in the car and off we went!
We're now in England relaxing trying to beat a nasty cold that seems to have got to us all. Yes, I woke up Friday morning not feeling well.....
Luckily I didn't get too bad before we actually got here so driving through 4 countries before we got to Calais went fine, and we had a nice rest on the ferry to Dover, drove the last couple of hours before arriving at nana and papa's.

Despite feeling unwell the children were very excited and so happy to see everyone. Their little cousin had been waiting and it was lots of laughs and cuddles when they all three saw each other!

Map of the World.

I wished for one and got one! We love looking at it and when I find the right size pins we'll pin all the places we've been. Each of us have our own colour and as a family we'll have one so we can pin where we've been. Either alone, together, as a family and in years to come I imagine the princess and little man will pin places they've been without mummy and daddy.
The little man loves looking at the little flags at the bottom of the map, one for each country in the world. He knows a lot of them which the Euros and the Olympics this summer helped along.

We have 2 atlases which we do look in every so often but having the whole world hanging on the wall at the childrens height is better. We talk about countries, flags, football teams, people and lots more when we look at it. Being a mixed family of Danish/British maybe the interest is bigger, I don't know!!??

Do you have an atlas or a map in your house??

Postcards from Europe.

Cool uncle D has always been brilliant at sending postcards from wherever he travels to! We love it (and feel very bad that we never send any postcards) and at the moment all the cards from his and his fiance's summer holiday are on display on our fridge.

They went inter-railing around Europe and we were sent a card from every country they visited. That's so good and we love it. It was also on their travels this summer he popped the big question and she said YES...... We're so excited that another wedding is coming up and the princess is already looking at dresses and shoes on the computer (with a bit of help) so she can look her very best at the wedding.

Do you recieve postcards from family and friends when they go on holiday?? Do you send any yourself??

Have a lovely Sunday.
