Cool uncle!

When I first moved to London in 2002 and found my soulmate, he was playing in a band with his brother. Word of advice here, don't fall in love with the drummer if possible! I did and it's a lot of carrying around after each gig. Drums on the tube home late at night not the funniest! Anyway, it was pretty cool to have a boyfriend in a band! As time went on and the princess was born, my soulmate now a daddy as well, stopped playing in the band.  His brother carried on with writing his music, recording and playing gigs, now also an uncle and a very cool one! Cool uncle has just been to visit us this weekend and we heard some of his latest recordings. You can hear a couple of his older songs here.

I got my lost hour back....

Yeah! The clock went back an hour in the night so that must mean I got my lost hour back, doesn't it? You can read all about my lost hour in this post I did 25 days ago.
http://oddparent.blogspot.com/2011/10/argh-just-lost-hour-of-my-life.html
Anyway pre-children I would have enjoyed an extra hour in bed reading or sleeping! But my little diglots do not have lie-ins regardless of whether they're given an extra hour or not. So the clock was showing the lovely early hour of 5.27am when we got up! Rise and shine..... So should I do something productive with my gained hour? Yeah, why not.....

So I baked....

The little man, the sticks and mummy.

Behind our garden there's a path that leads to a school where they have 2 goats. We sometimes walk there to say hello to the goats. It's only around 200 metres from us so not too long for me to walk. One afternoon the little man and I decided to go and say hello to the goats. I have a stick when I walk outside. When we got outside the little man was searching for something... He then picked up a long stick, grabbed my hand, looked up at me and said "Lets go mummy!"

I read this fantastic blog.

What language to sing in.....

Daddy and the little man were playing on the piano. Daddy asks the little man, should he teach him how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?
No, the little man would like to sing the Butterfly song. Daddy does not know the Butterfly song. The little man starts singing Butterfly Butterfly then stops looks up at his daddy and says " Is it okay I sing it in Danish? "

Worms.....

... are so not my kind of thing. Really they're not. Nature things full stop are not my kind of thing. If the princess and the little man are to learn about nature, slimy little creatures (don't get me started on frogs) and such things, it surely can be done by professionals (nursery workers-teachers etc). Guess what happened when I went to pick the little man up from nursery yesterday? Him and his best friend were digging up worms and.... argh putting them in their mouths. The little man shouting: "Look mummy it's like spaghetti..." I was biting my tongue not to shout very loud "get that out of your mouth" didn't want to scare all the children at the nursery. So i played it cool and said as calm as I could manage "yeah, look at that..." doubt I sounded very enthusiastic but apperently worms are full of nutrients!

I love this version of Over the Rainbow. Especially the Ukulele Mr. Schuester is playing! Ukulele is a funny word. Why call it that...? It's a small Guitar isn't it...? Brilliant word though, Ukulele! Anyway, I feel this is a Monday song!

Mummy on a swing....

...there's something I haven't done for a long time. Yesterday though, I couldn't stand the temptation. So line up kids it's my turn first on the swings.....

Why the facepaint on a random Saturday?? Not sure... The diglots wanted it so they got it. Yet again I'd forgotten what a pain it is to get off again. Never mind, off it came and both diglots were sqeacky clean when they went to bed! Talking about pain.... My poor bum cheeks! Did you know thats the muscle you use the most when going on a swing? I didn't but I do now....!

Sunny Sunday at the Mini Zoo!

Guinea pig cuddles and pony rides were the biggest hits! The cute little baby goats tried to eat the little man's jacket so he had a little chat with it about that not being a very nice thing to do! The daddy did come but he was taking all the photos...

Old toys are the best...

We went to mormor's house today. She has lots of old toys which the princess and the little man love to play with. They're wooden and build-something-you decide-yourself kind of toys. Everytime they are there they play with the same few things.

Back home again, lets get back to the modern world. Still being creative, it's a make-your-own-picture kind of game on the Nintendo. Today the princess had the patience to let the little man watch.

He does not have a DS yet as his mean parents think he should wait untill his 6th birthday, like the princess did. To be fair to him, he has not asked for one (yet). Will we be able to be strong when or if he starts begging for one for his 5th birthday? Of course we will! Is it mean or fair parenting? We'll find out when the princess and the little man leave the house in protest.
Cute they are all wrapped up ready to go to mormor's!

Not time to be bored on a Monday night!

As bad as TV was Sunday night (on my TV anyway I obviously don't know about your TV), Monday night's TV was fantastic. Monday is medical night starting at 8pm with Grey's Anatomy then Private Practice followed by House. Does it get much better?? I don't think so! So the princess and the little man were in bed by 8pm. What do I do when they are big enough to stay up past 8pm? Can't give up my medical night... can I?

Facts I found because I was bored on sunday night!

Why was I bored..? Absolutely nothing on tv worth watching. I didn't feel like reading so I typed in funny facts on Google. There sure is a lot of facts nobody really need at all but thought I'd share a few with you guys. Here goes:
By raising your legs slowly and laying on your back, you can't sink in quicksand. Right, I'll keep that in mind when I accidently walk into a puddle of quicksand and start sinking!
Flying from London to New York by Concord, due to the time zones crossed, you can arrive 2 hours before you leave. Brilliant, then I have a couple of hours extra to shop!
Starfish don't have brains. That's a bit harsh....
Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards. Neither can I so what's the big deal..?
It's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. But why would you do that in the first place...?

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

It's half term next week. We don't have any plans other than relaxing and enjoying we don't have to get up at a certain time. We'll snuggle up on the sofa watching films. The "diglots" favourite at the moment is Mary Poppins.
It only took the oldest "diglot" half a day to be able say: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Obviously the daddy has mastered the word for years. The youngest "diglot" is only 4 years old so is not expected (only of the daddy) to be able to say it just yet. He's close though and in training once a day. Well... I do not master the word yet which apparently is quite unacceptable. It's also the funniest thing ever since oldest "diglot" and the daddy don't seem to be able to stop laughing at my attempts.

Extreme excitement....

.... we had in the house yesterday afternoon! The princess, the little man and their daddy love to play the Cars game on daddy's old and totally out-of-date Playstation2. Patient they are not so to get new and exciting races, "cheat" codes had to be found on the internet and used instead of racing to earn all the points to do other races. Takes too long apparently. The codes were typed in and the screams with delight from all 3 when new races were now available, were loud, long and extreme. If this is all it takes to get them over the moon with joy, then let it be!

A brand new word!

At dinner today the princess came up with a brand new word.
Klise
Definition:  a man who has no clothes on... and no hair.

Diglot - a bilingaul person!

The princess and the little man are "diglots" fluent in English and Danish. A bit confusing at times seperating the two languages which makes us parents have a laugh!

Diglot, what a brilliant word!

Here's a sentence I thought I'd never say: "Dinner time my two little diglots"

Here they are, my diglots!

Once upon a time.....

... there was a little girl. She lived in a small town, went to school, played with her friends, was good at sport and fun to hang out with! She went travelling, she moved to one capital, then another. She met her soulmate, they had a little princess and soon after a little man was on his way too.......

Suddenly the legs wouldn't walk, couldn't carry her. The little man was born, legs still not good. Newborn boy, 2year old girl and her soulmate were left at home. Three weeks in hospital, the legs still not good but home she went!

Four years ago nearly to the date it all happened. What ever was the matter? MS was the matter....
Now.... legs are better, not the best but better! Life is amazing and lovely. So why write this....??? It's a grey day, it's raining, it's 4 years ago and sometimes she remembers it all for a short while.

The little girl is bigger, back in the little town where she grew up and still fun to hang out with. The End!

( No, not really The End because life goes on and life is wonderfull. The now big girl is very happy, loves her life, her princess, her little man, her soulmate for 10 years and doesn't care if she can't run!)

Early birthday celebrations!

We had one of those today. For me.... Yet again I'm officially 25! Nah.... not really but who's counting after the age of 25. I'm certainly not! Family came around for brunch and cake, we had a lovely time. The real birthday is Tuesday where my mum joins us for dinner. We all watch the football together after dinner, the princess and the little man in bed snoring. Denmark are playing and it's a big game. Yes, we're a football loving family and luckily it's all of us so no one complains.
Denmark got the best fans or defo the most creative!

Magic.

The little man and the princess love magic. Their daddy loves showing them magic and so far they are convinced he is magic. Well, nearly because the smile on the princess' face tells me otherwise but good as she is, she's not telling her little brother (or her daddy). This morning while they were having breakfast, the princess was letting the little man believe he was magic. The screams of joy were a delight to listen to at 7am and the pride on the princess' face when she gave me a knowing smile and a wink, was priceless. Then my heart sunk a bit because how do I break the news to their daddy, that his princess knows the truth.... He'll defo deny it and find excuses. Maybe it'll just stay between me and her. The little man still firmly believe his daddy is magic so he'll has to settle with that. I dread when the princess and the little man stop believing in the Tooth fairy and Santa. It will break their daddy's heart. Maybe I'll get them to pretend for his sake!

Argh... just lost an hour of my life.

Actually not really but sure feels like it. I left the house an hour too early to pick up the little man and the princess. Worst part of that or should I say the most embarrassing part, was that it took so long to realise, I was an hour ahead of everybody in the country. One thing is picking the little man up early from nursery, but picking up the princess an hour too early from school is sooooo embarrassing. And only realising it as her nice cool teacher invites the little man and me in to the class (luckily it's playtime) is just too much. Well, good part was I got to draw all the princess' little friends castles! (and no, I'm not that good at drawing). The cool and nice teacher then sits with me to chat, saying it's so nice of me to come and stay a bit and the princess can go home early. Do I lie? Pretend to be such a good mummy I just thought I'd be coming early today to draw lots of castles? I felt I had to admit I messed up the time, and that I'm not a 'Supermum'!
It feels like I've lost an hour, but I guess I can wait to the end of month. I'll get it back then when the clocks change or does it not really work like that? Either way, hour lost or gone, it feels weird..... Anybody tried it?

A little man and his lunch box!

Today the little man has to stay at home because he has a temperature and a little bit of a sore throat. His appetite is the same though, and why not have his lunch from his lunch box now it is prepared anyway!

Saturday at school, a great finish to a week all about well-being.

This last week at the princess' school there hasn't been any "normal" school days. The whole school has worked across the years in groups, the theme all about Well-being. Today it was the big finale and we all went to see what the princess had been up to the last week. Her job today was giving hand-massage to who ever wanted it. The cream used was the good old dark blue Nivea, which never quite managed to soak completely into the skin, leaving greasy and shiny hands! Never-the-less the queue was long and the princess might have a career in a beauty salon in the future.... Who knows?

There were lots of other things to do as well. Painting little pictures which will be put together to one big art display hung up in the school.

The highlight was defo the big finale show which finished off a fantastic Saturday morning. All the children in the school had been practicing Stomp (you know, the drumming on buckets and making noises with brooms etc.) So everyone from age 5 to 16 was making "organised noise" for 10 minutes using empty bottles, empty cans, cans with rice in and buckets. It was brilliant (despite the princess' not so smiley face!)
We decided to finish a busy, lovely Saturday off with a great meal at our favourite restaurant Bones (courtesy of Nana & Papa!) We all love the food there. The little man and the princess especially enjoyed the ice cream they created themselves.
