We won this lovely Birthday cake from our local bakery. My sister and mum had entered the princess and little man in a compatition in the local paper. We were able to pick it up the day the little man had his Birthday party. How lucky is that!
The cake was meant for both children as their Birthdays are only a month apart. The little man got to blow out the candles though. His big sister is way to cool for doing that now she's 10 apparently.
The cake is normal sponge cake with melted brown sugar on top as well as marcipan, icing and lots of sweets. It's a very traditional Danish Birthday cake but Nana and Papa who was over from England loved it too. Nana got the recipe of the internet so she can attempt to bake one back in England. We will look forward to that next time we visit.

Another sleepover....
This time at school! Friday afternoon, 12 very excited 7-8 year olds showed up with their sleeping bag in tow. I had promised the princess that I would stay over this year too. I didn't last year !
We were 3 mums staying overnight, a couple of dads helping during the evening until the children fell asleep.
They had had a great evening with hotdogs outside for dinner, playing until the sun went down behind the trees, then they went inside and kept playing until they were presented with a bag of sweets each and Madadgacar 3 was put on the big screen! Suddenly all were quiet and only the rustling of sweet paper was to be heard.
The film finished and they all jumped into their pjs and brushed their teeth. They were tired and happily snuggled up in their sleeping bags, 11.10pm they all were asleep. I managed to get a bit of sleep before 5.30am when the first ones woke.
We had arranged for the parents to pick up their little ones at 8am which was a good call..... We had had a great time but were all very tired and ready to go home. It's so lovely to see the class together and see how well they play and get along. I'm glad that us parents agree this is an event that should happen every year and the school happily lets us have the school all to ourselves for the night.
Do your children's classes do such events too??

Playground and presents, small as well as big ones....
There were a few days in England where the princess, little man and the daddy were well enough to venture out!! So first stop had to be the playground, right.... Happy faces, fresh air and lots of fun!!
The little man wearing a few of his Christmas presents! A cool leather pilot jacket and his cool hat which he also wore for a while on Christmas day when he got it.... His excitement on Christmas day was so lovely. Aunty 'I' gave him a big present with a little one attached on top. He chose to open the little one first and screamed (and I mean screamed really loudly) with joy: "Look daddy, batteries... Batteries, mummy!! Look...!!" Then he opened the big packet, a radio controlled Rory car! Screams again but not as loud....
He's got his priorities right, hasn't he??

The daddy has just descovered our kitchen.....
.... and also an app on his phone called reciepes! It's mainly the cake recipes he looks up! He has so far made banana bread, fudge (which was a flop and couldn't be eaten) and today he has just made chocolate chip cookies! They look yummy, don't they??
We had friends around yesterday and they liked his banana bread (phew... I don't think he would have let them leave if they'd said otherwise), the daddy was praised for his effort and was one very happy man!!
Today morfar (grandad) and his wife came to give the princess and the little man their Christmas presents. We're spending Christmas in England this year so we have pre Christmas before we leave. I really like that as we don't have to take the presents from the Danish lot back and forward plus the princess and little man get to enjoy their presents a bit more, having them spread out like that! This way the Danish lot get to enjoy the children excitedly opening their presents. Also no doubt there'll still be lots of presents in England under Nana & Papa's tree. Thanks to online shopping, all our presents for everyone are already safely waiting for us at Nana & Papa's house, ready to get wrapped. It's a win win situation, isn't it??
Do you bring the presents back and forward if you travel to see family for Christmas??

One more advent calender, snow, Elves, Fairies and a little Christmas train.
Yesterday a big packet came in the post.... It was advent calenders from Nana to add to the two the princess and little man already had been given. Both mormor (grandma) and moster (aunty) had also had the same thought....
Today we woke up to find snow outside....
....and that the Fairy had delivered the Christmas tree. Every year it's so exciting to see when it will be delivered. The Fairy sits on top and she has put the lights on. The rest is for us to decorate!
That was not all.... The Elves had also been sometime in the night because the little man and princess' stockings had things in them. Magazines and treats which lead to more screams of joy.
The Christmas market was today too, so we popped down for a while but it was very cold. The princess and little man did get a ride on the little train before we called it a day.
Back home again hot chocolate and tea got us warmed up again.

The tree is now lit....
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..... "Wow" the crowd went!
Before that happened this special visitor, yes you guessed right, Father Christmas arrived by boat to do the honours.... Can you see him waving to all the excited children (and excited parents) ??
The princess and little man got to shake his hand before we all followed him and the band (yes, there's a Christmas band why wouldn't there be.....) to see the Christmas tree get lit!

And so it begins.....
All the Christmas shenanigans! No no, don't get me wrong, I do like Christmas but it's a busy time! Today was the first of many things happening the next 4 weeks. The princess' school had their 'Make Christmas decoration for your classroom' day and parents were welcome to come and help. So I did.....
The classroom looks fantastic now, the children are happy and I'm soooo tired!! They do have a lot to tell you this lovely bunch of 7 year olds....
Tomorrow afternoon there's a Christmas party at the after school club. Then we're off to the harbour to see Father Christmas arrive on the boat to turn the lights on, on our town's Christmas tree. Like he does every year so it's ready for the Christmas fair on Sunday. Next week is soooo busy too with more parties at nursery, school but I'll come back to that another day.

Football fan but not your team, daddy!!
The little man has an interest in football, helped by the daddy who's the biggest football fan I know. As the little man has gotten older (now 5) his understanding of the game has increased and he sits with the daddy and watches the games. He loses interest after a while but not before he knows what team the daddy wants to win and more often than not then chooses the opposite team!! That's all fine when it's randomish games but when it's the daddy's team it hurts when the little man chooses the reds not the blues.....
When we went away with our friends the other weekend the men were discussing this as our friends little boy does the same!!! My friend and I said nothing, it was not a discussion for us to interact in!! None of us suprised that our little boys are winding up their daddy!!

Hot, hot, hot....
This last week it's been hot but not as hot as the last few days where it's been like really hot, hot, hot.... It's lovely but I struggle a bit in heat like this. It has meant that a trip to the beach was possible yesteday though. It's only 2 minutes away! What's even better is that aunty V and our little cousin are here for the week and we all went to the beach together. The daddy and aunty V quickly thought it would be funny to bury their children.... You so often hear about children getting sun burned on the beach! Well, not in this case.
The little man is 5 years old in two days. I can't believe he's already 5.... He's very excited and next Saturday we're having his friends around for a little party. He was so proud when he handed out his invitations last Friday. The princess will have her birthday party for her school friends on Friday. We're off to Dinoland, a softplay near where we live. That had made up for the fact the princess is born in the middle of the school holidays. She's now forgiven us.....

The Motte and Bailey.
My in-laws run a pub now. It's in the village where they live and the whole family help out there. I can't wait for the Christmas holiday when we come over and can be a part of the village pub life, and I'd love to have Christmas dinner there. The daddy can do a shift or two behind the bar, maybe I can do a sign even though uncle's signs are really cool! The princess and the little man can help Nana in the kitchin by making a mess... Anyway, here's some pictures of the pub and if you're passing through Pirton, Hertfordshire, do pop in please and say hi from me!

Circus!
Not a big professional one but one performed by a big bunch of talented 5 to 9 year olds. We went to see the princess perform this afternoon. She and 2 other girls were walking on a tightrope (safe wooden one a foot off ground) using an umbrella to keep her balance! The adults who made all this happen were very entertaining and had done a brilliant job getting these very talented children perform fantastically. There was kung-fu, singing, shooting water baloons, dancing, strong men, cowboys on horses and gymnastic girls! They were all amazing and lots of proud grandparents and parents were cheering and filling the hat with coins. Coins that will help the after school club make it even more fun going there. The princess loves it and all her friends do too!
The princess needed an umbrella for the show so I got the little man one too. He loved it and asked me to take a photo of him!
He's such a little poser but who cares when you're that good looking!!

And now it's finally gone....
It's the little man's temperature I'm talking about. This morning it had been gone 24 hours so nursery here we come.... The little man was so ready as well, he has missed his little friends!
The weekend was lovely and relaxed even though the little man wasn't well. Sunday afternoon we went to celebrate our nephew/cousin's Confimation. Lovely speeches, fantastic food and great company. The princess and little man were on their best behavior. When a bit bored at the table, a little break on one of the sofa's playing the princess's DS, was needed.
The hall where the Confirmation was on Sunday, is where we're having our wedding. We saw how big the tables are, how many can sit at it etc. Looks like we have got the seating plan just right. We have most things sorted now but I'm sure we'll have forgotten one or two things as we get nearer to the date....

Well after years of oddparent begging me to enlighten the world with my knowledge, I decided to agree!
We had a conversation the other night where I told her about the phenomenon of 'Six degrees of separation' which is the idea that everyone is on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth.
This idea sounds ridiculous at first, but as an example, I am just 3 steps away from Queen Elizabeth II. I met someone yesterday who has met the Queen of Denmark, who in turn knows Queen Elizabeth II. And how about this: I am 4 steps away from Brad Pitt (much to the hapiness and joy of oddparent!). My best friend knew Chris Martin from Coldplay before his fame, who is married to Gwyneth Paltrow, who was engaged to Brad Pitt!
My ultimate connection is Me to Diego Maradona (the greatest footballer of all time... after me!). 5 steps! I went to school with a guy who knew John Hartson, who played with Tony Adams, who played with and against Gary Lineker who... yes you guessed it, played on the same pitch when Maradona did this:

England here we are...
A bit of wind made the boat rock a bit but we slept from it all. The princess and little man were very excited as were the daddy and I!
Today was shopping day...!! Tomorrow we're off to London to the science museum and to visit some good friends.

England here we come.....
Woop Woop!! We are sooooooo excited. 4pm tommorrow we leave our house, drive for an hour, check in, drive on board the BIG ferry and enjoy the next 18 hours (which of course will be pleasant as I have arranged with the weatherman for the wind to stop.... )!
I'm not stressed about packing because there's no weight limit and I can take more or less what I want! Are we ever gonna fly again (hmm.. probably depends on how sea sick I get...)?
10 days we're staying at Nana and Papa's seeing aunties, uncle, cousin and friends. The princess and little man are soooo excited about the Easter Egg hunt. I'm excited about the clothes shopping, the daddy can't wait for Indian take away!
I will probably not have much time writing any blogs but not to worry. I will tell you all about our Easter holiday.

Simple as that.....
Is what our wedding is gonna be like. We like simple and I think it's very classy. I'm not very classy, a hippie is what my mother-out-law calls me! She's probably right.... That doesn't mean the wedding can't be just a tat classy, does it? Anyhow, as I said, simple is the way for us!
Tables will be have a white velour table cloth on and one red flower in a slim vase! There'll be red and blue balloons on the walls and then the princess, little man and I have made these...
They will all be hung up on a string with sweet little pegs on the wall between the balloons! Sweet, homemade, therefore cheap and very simple.
The food will be a buffet, nice, simple but delicious summer food! The daddy and the princess are so excited about the dessert.
It's a daytime wedding and we want people to relax and enjoy themselves.
